Candle sand — also sold as candle powder, candle pearls, pearled candles or sand wax — is a granulated, plant-based candle wax that you pour into any heat-resistant container and light with a separate wick. Unlike a moulded candle, it takes the shape of whatever vessel you choose, leaves no wax stuck to the glass, and can be reused again and again.
The Candledust manufactures candle sand in Viimsi, Estonia (EU) and supplies it to consumers, retailers, restaurants, event planners and white-label partners across Europe. Every batch is CLP-compliant and backed by a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Candle sand works in three steps, with no melting, no moulds and no equipment:
Because only the wax near the flame liquefies, the candle self-extinguishes if it is knocked over, and the container stays clean.
| Traditional wax candle | Candle sand | |
| Shape | Fixed by the mould | Any vessel you own |
| After burning | Wax residue stuck in the vessel | Loose granules — vessel wipes clean |
| Reuse | Vessel usually discarded | Powder and wicks reused |
| Soot | Paraffin soot marks glass and walls | Up to 80% less soot |
| If tipped over | Spilled molten wax, fire risk | Self-extinguishing |
| Base material | Often paraffin (a petroleum product) | Plant-based, biodegradable |
Burn time depends on how much sand you use and how many wicks you light. The Candledust pack sizes give the following approximate totals:
Bulk candle sand is also sold by the kilogram for wholesale and event use.
Yes. Once a wick has burned down, a small amount of wax hardens around it. There are three ways to carry on:
Wicks themselves are reusable and can be relit several times, and the sand can be poured into a different container whenever you want to change the look.
Candle sand is available both scented and unscented. Unscented sand gives a clean, neutral burn and can be personalised with your own essential or fragrance oils; scented blends are pre-fragranced during manufacturing. The Candledust range covers 27+ colours and fragrance blends, from Nordic Lights and Midnight to Champagne Rhubarb and Pomegranate Spice, plus 10 ml and 250 ml fragrance oils sold separately.
Candle sand also floats on water — pour it slowly onto the surface for table centrepieces and outdoor displays.
The Candledust supplies candle sand B2B across the EU and beyond:

Candle sand is made of plant-based wax formed into fine granules. The Candledust formula is vegan, paraffin-free, paraben-free and 100% biodegradable, with CLP-compliant colourants and fragrances.
Any non-flammable, heat-resistant container with a diameter of at least 8 cm — glass, ceramic, metal or stone. The 8 cm minimum keeps melted wax from reaching and sticking to the sides.
One wick is enough for a container up to roughly 13 cm across. For wider vessels, place several wicks apart from each other so each has its own melt pool.
For reusability, vessel cleanliness and safety, yes: candle sand leaves no wax residue, self-extinguishes if tipped, produces up to 80% less soot and is refillable. A traditional candle is simpler if you want a fixed shape such as a pillar or taper.
Stored dry, at room temperature and away from direct sunlight, candle sand keeps its scent and burn quality for years. Fragrance intensity fades slowly once a bag is opened.
Yes. Unscented candle sand can be mixed with essential oils or candle fragrance oils before pouring. The Candledust also sells 100% fragrance oils in 10 ml and 250 ml bottles.
The wax is plant-based, clean-burning and non-toxic. It should still be kept out of reach of pets, especially while lit — the self-extinguishing pearled structure adds a layer of protection if a curious animal knocks the vessel over.
Yes. Pour it slowly onto the water surface and it will float, which makes it popular for centrepieces and decorative bowls.
The Candledust sells candle sand by the kilogram and offers registered business accounts with reseller pricing, plus a white label programme for own-brand products. Orders ship from Estonia across the EU.
Yes. The Candledust candle sand is manufactured in the EU with CLP-compliant labelling, and Safety Data Sheets are available for every product — a requirement for retailers reselling scented products in the European Union.
